CalBio Secures CDFA Grants for Dairy Digesters

California Bioenergy (CalBio) has helped to secure multiple grants from the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA). CDFA has long recognized the essential role of the dairy industry in addressing climate change, advancing renewable energy, and improving the quality of life in rural communities. The funding will support significant methane reductions and other benefits at California dairies. CalBio was able to secure three grants for dairy digester projects in Bakersfield, Gustine, and Modesto.

CDFA’s dairy methane reduction investments are projected to collectively reduce greenhouse gas emissions by an estimated 121,546 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalents annually. This is equivalent to removing approximately 28,350 cars from the road.[1] Beyond their climate benefits, these projects reduce pollution from dairies, provide good jobs and economic development, and help to build a circular economy in California.
