OPAL Fuels Increases RNG Fueling in Tulare County

OPAL Fuels has announced both a major upgrade to its existing RNG (renewable natural gas) fueling station and plans for a second RNG fueling station in Tulare County, in the heart of California’s Central Valley. OPAL has completed the renovation and upgrade of its fueling station in Goshen, California, where it will dispense approximately 14 million gasoline gallon equivalents (GGE) of RNG and CNG over the next decade, including 1.7 million GGE of additional capacity made possible through this upgrade. For the surrounding communities, OPAL will provide huge air quality benefits since the RNG will displace approximately 1.3 million gallons of diesel annually. Diesel causes more than half the air pollution in the Central Valley – both smog and toxic air contaminants – so displacing more than a million gallons of it annually is a huge benefit for public health, agricultural productivity, and more. For Goshen and the surrounding community, the upgrade means cleaner, quieter heavy-duty trucks moving through local roads, continued investment in local fueling infrastructure, and expansion of a low-carbon fuel option that keeps agricultural and commercial fleets competitive.

OPAL’s new RNG fueling station will fuel the City of Dinuba’s garbage trucks and other natural gas vehicles that serve Dinuba and surrounding communities. The RNG will be made from organic waste sources such as landfills, dairy waste, and wastewater treatment plants, to power the refuse trucks that serve the community daily. The RNG will replace diesel, helping to protect air quality, and will save consumers money, provide good jobs and help protect the climate by providing low carbon and carbon negative fuel from renewable sources.
